Honk en Softbal vereniging de Northern Stars in Leeuwarden bestaat sinds 1982. Honk en softbal is een kleine sport in Nederland, maar het is ons altijd met de grote inzet van onze vrijwilligers gelukt deze geweldige sport door vele kinderen en volwassenen in Leeuwarden te laten beoefenen.

Maar nu, na 35 jaar, dreigt onze prachtige vereniging zijn voortbestaan te verliezen.
De reden is dat we geen kantine meer hebben. Onze oude kantine is na 35 jaar trouwe dienst noodgedwongen afgebroken, het was niet meer veilig.
Elke vereniging heeft een kantine nodig om te kunnen voortbestaan, het is de ontmoetingsplek die iedereen samen brengt en de club sterk maakt. Zonder kantine verliest een vereniging zijn leden, nu al zien wij dat vooral onze jeugd de club begint te verlaten. Ook de kantine inkomsten zijn voor een kleine vereniging absoluut  noodzakelijk om te overleven.

De club heeft niet stil gezeten, we zijn constant op zoek naar oplossingen.  Er is inmiddels een kant en klare kantine beschikbaar gesteld, een voormalig noodlokaal van een school. Maar als vereniging hebben wij niet voldoende eigen financiële middelen om de kantine over te nemen.

Help ons deze kantine te bouwen en zo het voortbestaan van onze prachtige vereniging te redden!

Save our club!

Will you help us get a new clubhouse and save our club?

Base and Softball club the Northern Stars in Leeuwarden (Holland) was established in 1982. Base- and softball are rather small sport in the Netherlands, but with the help and dedication from our volunteers, this great sport could always be practiced in Leeuwarden by both children and adults. But now, after 35 years, the existence of our great club is in danger. The reason is that we don’t have a clubhouse anymore. Our old clubhouse was forced to be demolished after 35 years of loyal service, the structure was no longer safe.

Every club needs a clubhouse to be able to survive, it is the meeting place that brings everyone together, it is the backbone of the club. Without a clubhouse a club loses its members. Already we see youth members leaving our club. The clubhouse revenues are also essential for a small club to survive.

Of course the Stars didn’t lean back and have been busy to find solutions. A new clubhouse has been made available but we just don’t have the financial means to fund all of the costs.

Help us build this clubhouse and save the existence of our wonderful club!
