After all the misery of the past 2 years, we want to offer the orphans of the Yamah children's orphanage a nice Christmas dinner. We are raising money for this, which can be used to pay for the food. Would you like to help us offer these children a wonderful Christmas?
More information about the orphanage follows below.
Yamah children's orphanage
The Yamah Children's Orphanage is located in West Mamprusi in the northeastern region of Ghana. This orphanage offers shelter to 45 orphans between 3 months and 18 years of age, about 10 orphans are added every year. Many of these children have been orphaned by HIV or other terrible circumstances. Close relatives forbade the children to go to school and the children were forced to work. In addition to housing, the orphanage also offers education to the orphans and 300 children from the area.
On February 16, 2021, this orphanage was completely burned down due to an electrical failure.
All children are currently back on the street and are being looked after as well as possible. The education is given in the open air under the trees.
In addition to a roof over their heads, the children have also lost almost all personal items in the fire. That is why we would like to help them to save. All the extra money raised will go to Emmanuel Bangmarigu, good friend from Ghana and co-owner of the orphanage, it will go to the children for new stuff, clothes, beds and school supplies, but especially to a dry and safe roof over their heads.

Yamah children's orphanage
The Yamah Child Orphanage, located in Yamah, West Mamprusi Municipality in the North East Region of Ghana was established in 2006 as a result of increasing numbers of orphans and poor street children due to high incidence of deaths in the families resulting from multiple causes such as HIV/AIDS, Babies born after death of Mothers, Accidents, Wars, complicated illness etc. These orphans were being left under the care of their extended family members who were not able to provide for them, would pull them out of school and force them to hard labour popularly called child labour in order to earn and keep them. The Yamah Child Orphanage was therefore founded by my brother Rev Amos Bangmarigu and I Emmanuel Bangmarigu with the core objective of caring for these orphans and bringing smiles back on their faces. Having doubled in numbers since its opening, the orphanage currently has 45 orphans between 3 months and 18 years of age, and about 10 orphans are added on a rolling basis annually. In addition to providing a safe place for the orphans, they are also offered vocational training and formal education at the center with over 300 children from the surrounding communities benefiting from the formal school system. The orphanage has survived over the years from generous contributions from well-wishers and also people who share our vision, beliefs and are touched by what we do.
On 16 February, 2021, fire broke out in the orphanage building and burnt down the entire building completely. The smoke caused by the fire was discovered late and people who rushed there could not help put off the fire and also no local fire brigade in the area. Fortunately there was no child in the building at that time as the children had gone to the football field to play a match against another team so no child was hurt.
We were very shocked and sad about what happened, for the children it was very emotional to them. They have lost their home and belongings, they do not have a place anymore to do their homework, eat and play together and sleep at night.
The rainy season is fast approaching and children may not survive through the bad weather in the open. Rev. Amos has exhausted all his efforts in fixing the problem even to the extent of reaching out to the government and the member of parliament in the area but have not been successful., that is the reason why I am stepping in to reach out to you to help us fix the problem.
