Few publications exist which are willing to publish the kind of experimental and idiosyncratic writing we are interested in, so we decided to create one ourselves. The result was Thought Magicians, a philosophical blog offering refuge to texts which would otherwise remain unwritten, unfinished, or unpublished. The texts that we publish do not belong to the strictly academic realm, but don't really fit the sphere of ‘public philosophy’ either. It's about experimentation and creativity rather than accessibilty and conciseness. This goes for our own texts, but also for texts written by others.
Running Thought Magicians takes quite some time out of our already busy schedules, and also costs us money. Because of this, we want to ask you for a small donation of whatever you can spare. With this money, we can keep up the website and keep organizing events and initiatives in a way that is sustainable for ourselves and the platform over a longer period of time. It is our ambition to keep doing this on increasingly large scales, and (unfortunately) finances are an inevitable part of that process. We will, of course, make sure that the money we earn from your donation finds its way back to the platform and all our related philosophical endeavours. It goes without saying that we are not in it for the money (we are philosophers after all), but for bringing a little bit more interesting thought into the world. Your contribution, however small or large, would help us massively to keep that project going into the foreseeable future.
With love,
Max and Lex
