Hoi! Ik ben Kirsten, en ik ben 16 jaar oud. Ik zit in 5 VWO van het CSG Jan Arentsz, en ik ben dol op mensen helpen. Na een selectieprocedure ben ik gekozen om in februari 2023 met 19 andere leerlingen van onze school naar Gambia (West-Afrika) te gaan om vrijwilligerswerk te doen. Hier willen wij ook lokale projecten steunen, en gaan we een speeltuin bouwen bij een basisschool daar. Voor dit project zullen we samenwerken met Travel2Learn.

De meeste scholen in Gambia zijn zeer beperkt wanneer het gaat om materiaal en ruimte. Er is geen leerplicht, en ouders moeten zelf betalen voor schriften, pennen en schooluniformen, wat al heel duur is. Een speeltuin is dus eigenlijk compleet uitgesloten voor deze scholen, maar wij willen ook voor deze kinderen het leren leuk maken!

Maar we hebben wel steun nodig om dit project te kunnen financieren. Daarom vraag ik u om alstublieft te doneren zodat we zometeen in februari de mensen in Gambia zoveel mogelijk kunnen helpen, en een mooie speeltuin kunnen bouwen voor de kinderen. Alle kleine beetjes helpen :) Deze actie delen via social media wordt ook zeer op prijs gesteld!

Hi! My name is Kirsten, and I'm 16 years old. I'm currently in my junior year of high school at CSG Jan Arentsz, and I love helping people. After a thorough selection process, I, together with 19 other students from our school, was chosen to go volunteer in Gambia in February of 2023. During our stay, we also want to fund local projects, and build a playground at an elementary school. For this project, we'll be cooperating with the organisation Travel2Learn.

Most schools in Gambia are very limited in supplies and space. Education is not compulsory, and parents have to pay for notebooks, pens, school uniforms and other supplies themselves, which is very expensive. A playground at these schools is normally completely out of the question, but we want to make education fun for everyone, including these kids!

But we do need help in financing this project. That's why I ask you to please donate to our crowdfunding campaign, so we can help the people in Gambia as much as we can, and build a nice playground for the children. Every little bit helps :) Sharing this campaign through social media is also very much appreciated!
