Rescue Baby Gambia is geboren in 2012 uit verbijstering hoe slecht de gezondheidszorg rondom de bevalling is geregeld in het land. Triest hoe moeders bevallen in een kliniek of ziekenhuis, waar de benodigde spullen niet aanwezig zijn om alles hygiënisch en veilig te laten verlopen. Er zijn geen noodzakelijke zorgmaterialen aanwezig voor een goede zorg voor moeder en kind.

Aan de noordkant van de Gambia rivier ondersteunen zij de verlos/kraamafdeling van het ziekenhuis in Essau. Ruim 70.000 mensen zijn afhankelijk van dit ziekenhuis, door de moeilijk bevaarbare rivier is dit gebied slecht bereikbaar. Daar waar anderen om die reden afzien van hulp aan dit ziekenhuis, zijn wij juist om diezelfde reden hier ondersteuning gaan verlenen, wij kunnen daar echt een substantiële toegevoegde waarde bieden.

Maandelijks worden in dit ziekenhuis ruim 150 baby’s geboren, die wij graag een kans geven op een toekomst. De samenwerking met de artsen en het verplegend personeel in het ziekenhuis is goed. Er zijn korte lijnen, waardoor de stichting kan zorgen dat de spullen en financiële middelen op de juiste plek komen. Het is fijn om met dit team samen te werken. Elke stap is er weer één vooruit en we hopen met elkaar nog vele vervolgstappen te maken. Iedere baby heeft recht op een goede start.

Rescue Baby Gambia was born in 2012 out of amazement at how poorly the healthcare around childbirth is arranged in the country. Sad how mothers give birth in a clinic or hospital, where the necessary equipment is not available to ensure that everything runs hygienically and safely. There are no necessary care materials available for proper care for mother and child.

On the north side of the Gambia river they support the delivery / maternity ward of the hospital in Essau. More than 70,000 people depend on this hospital, this area is difficult to reach due to the difficult to navigate river. Where others for that reason refrain from assistance to this hospital, we have started providing support here for the very same reason, we can really offer substantial added value there.

Every month more than 150 babies are born in this hospital, which we would like to give a chance for a future. The cooperation with the doctors and nursing staff in the hospital is good. There are short lines, so that the foundation can ensure that the things and financial resources are in the right place. It is nice to work with this team. Each step is one step forward and we hope to take many more steps together. Every baby is entitled to a good start.
