Dear donators and supporters!!
I have arrived in Greece and got fully overwhelmed by the vibrant city of Athens. Art and live music are everywhere you look. Languages from all over the globe.
Yesterday I was able to enter my apartment. When I saw the mulberry tree in the backyard I knew for sure that I am at the right place, for now. Since it was a public holiday I cooked some lentils with carrots, the only food I had. Apparently, this is a traditional Greek recipe. Of course, I didn't know but I guess that these small things tell you that you are in sink with the place around you.
So the basic things are covered, now about the actual reason why I am here:
I just had a talk to the program coordinator in Malakasa camp. She told me that the situation is very different from Lesbos. Due to the Covid situation, every family now has a separate container with a bathroom and kitchen included, sometimes to families share one. The rest of the stories I was told were quite similar to what I am used to when working with people in such unstable living conditions. So let's see, tomorrow we start and I will see which of my expectations were realistic and what the upcoming 6 weeks will bring.
Thank you all for your financial support, I am very thankful that you helped me realize this dream of coming to Greece and making use of my music therapeutical skills in the refugee camp. Cheers and till the next update! :)
