A 15-Year-Old Trying to Help His Dad
My name is Alex I am 15 years old, and lately, life has been harder than I ever imagined it could be. I have a job, and even though I’m still young, I work hard because I want to help my dad pay the bills and make sure we have what we need. Every paycheck I get, I try to put some of it toward helping him, but no matter how hard I try, it never seems to be enough.
My dad has been going through a rough time lately. I can see the stress on his face, even when he tries to hide it from me. Sometimes I hear him worrying about bills, rent, groceries, and all the other things we need to survive. He tries to act like everything is okay, but I know it isn’t. And honestly, it hurts seeing someone I love so much struggle and feeling like there’s only so much I can do to help.
Sometimes, after a long day at school and work, I come home exhausted. All I want to do is relax and enjoy being a teenager, but instead, I find myself worrying about things most people my age don’t even think about. I wish I could make more money. I wish I could take some of the weight off my dad’s shoulders. I wish I could tell him that everything is going to be okay and actually make it happen.
