Dear family, friends, and supporters,
I have something very special to share with you.
For over 50 years, a title has been floating around in my head: "Walapa and Kwi Kwi." For a long time, I didn't know what this title was meant for—only that it held deep meaning for me.
Walapa and Kwi Kwi are two fish native to Suriname, where I spent my childhood. Kwi Kwi lives in muddy river waters, while Walapa thrives in fresh waters. Together, their dynamic and origin story helped me navigate life. Whenever I faced stress, anger, fatigue, or hardship, these two characters were there to protect and comfort me.
After carrying them with me for all these years, I finally know how to share their story with the world: I am writing a children's book!
Along with an incredible team of artists, creators, and graphic designers I am working to publish "Walapa and Kwi Kwi."My dream is that every household has a copy of Walapa and Kwi Kwi. It is a story for inspiring connection, for children and adults to see themselves positively in the characters, and to create a curiosity about the unknown
