Wij zijn Solarcycles een folk metal/rockband uit Hoofddorp. We zijn al heel wat maanden bezig met het opnemen van onze eerste EP met het doel deze op 31 oktober 2017 uit te brengen. We willen onze cd zo professioneel mogelijk laten klinken en doen hiervoor ons uiterste best. Helaas hebben we te maken gehad met veel hardware gerelateerde problemen; Gedurende het opnemen hebben wij veel problemen ervaren omdat de computers die wij gebruiken het eigenlijk niet aankunnen en daardoor voortdurend vastlopen en uitvallen. Dit heeft vele nare consequenties gehad en we hebben dan ook vaak weer hele opnames opnieuw moeten maken, waardoor we veel vertraging op hebben gelopen.
Ondanks alle tegenslagen hebben we natuurlijk volgehouden en zijn we op het punt aangekomen dat we onze opnames moeten samenvoegen om ze te mixen en te masteren tot mooie liedjes. We doen ons uiterste best met de apparatuur die we hebben, maar zijn wel tot de conclusie gekomen dat het met deze apparatuur nauwelijks te doen is. We moeten de heletijd opnieuw beginnen omdat de computer de bestanden niet aankan en er duiken elke keer veel vreemde foutmeldingen op die ons harde werk ongedaan maken. We wensen nu dus eigenlijk voor onze muziek een sterke computer waarmee we goed kunnen opnemen en waarmee we onze EP kunnen afmaken. Omdat we als band nog geen geld verdienen (onze band kost ons op het moment alleen maar geld ;)), hebben we nu geen geld om een goede computer aan te schaffen. Om dit probleem op te lossen bedachten we deze crowdfunding actie waarmee mensen die ons willen helpen ons kunnen helpen in ruil voor mooie merchandise en andere beloningen. Door te doneren help je de band Solarcycles aan een computer waarmee we mooie liedjes kunnen opnemen: het enige dat we nog nodig hebben om zelfstandig goede muziek uit te kunnen brengen.

We zullen even toelichten waarop het bedrag dat we nodig hebben gebasseerd is.
De beste computer om muziek mee te maken zal al snel 6000 euro gaan kosten en een goede computer al snel 3000 a 4000 euro. Het bedrag waarnaar wij streven bestaat uit de kosten van de computer en dekt tevens alleen de materiaalkosten van de beloningen en eventueel de verzendkosten om deze beloningen bij u thuis te krijgen. Immers als wij het exacte bedrag van een computer als streefbedrag zouden gebruiken en vervolgens allerlei kosten hebben aan de beloningen die wij onze donateurs geven zou er maar weinig van het geld voor de computer overblijven en heeft de actie dus geen nut gehad. In plaats daarvan bieden wij dus onze merchandise aan tegen onze inkoopprijs en gaat de rest van het geld allemaal naar de computer. Los van (hopelijk) het kopen van een computer waarmee we goed kunnen opnemen, verdienen wij als band niks aan deze actie.

ENGLISH VERSION
We are Solarcycles (a folk metal/rock band from the Netherlands) and we've been working on our first EP (to be released on October 31th 2017) for a while now.
This is our problem:
During the recording process we have experienced lots of computer related errors which caused us a lot of trouble, delays and not to forget the "pain" when you loose all your recordings. Now we're finally ready to mix our tracks and make beautiful songs out of it.
BUT this seems to be too much for our computers. Our hardware simply can't handle the amount of tracks being mixed (and we already minimized the amount of tracks to the exact miminum needed for our instruments to be included).
The Solution:
We struggle to find a solution to fix the failures of our hardware and it seems to be impossible to do the mixing with what we got. Since we really want to complete our EP and since we really want it to sound beautiful and professional we've discovered that we have no other choice: we actually need a stronger and better computer! It is a very simple solution...but sadly it's an expensive one and we aren't able to pay for it by ourselves.
So here we are, asking very kindly for your help. If you decide to help us out we are forever thankful and apart from all the good karma you will get, we will give you nice rewards :) (see below)
For us this is a non-profit campain with the aim to finish our EP. Therefor we need a strong computer. Since we want to give our generous donors something nice to thank them we make some nice looking objects/merchandise for them in the process (also we will organize a thank you dinner and cook a nice 3-course meal).
