Milo is a real travelcat. She loves exploring the outdoors and has been travelling the last 10 months trough Australia. She loves going for walks and most people that meet her along the way fall instantly in love with her. Shes a super affectionate cat and would walk up to anyone to get the pets she thinks she deserves.
2 days ago we were walking Milo on the beach (what we always do) and out of nowhere a 'pet' dog attacked her brutally. He grabbed her around her breast area and started swinging her around like he wanted to kill her. I stepped in and grabbed the dog in his neck and tried to make him let go of her, but nothing worked. It took about 5 minutes before the owner of the dogs stepped in grabbed him by his tail and kicked him to let go. It took 3 people to keep the dog away from Milo.
Unfortunately trough the shock that I had from what happend I didnt ask their phonenumber and/or names and I have no information whatsoever from them. They left right after the incident without a sorry.
Lucky my friend Marloes was with me and we instantly decided to pack up camp and rushed ourselfs to the emergency vet, 5 hours away from the campiste. We arrived at 2am in the morning. They were waiting for us to arrive and took her straight to the emergency room. Turned out she had a puncured lung, so oxigen came into her breast cavity. The vets could repair this and drain the oxigen out. She has a broken and displaced sternum (breast bone), that might need surgery. Also the muscles in one of her front legs are ripped, so she cannot walk at the moment. She is till on heavy painrelief medicine, oxigen and IV drips.
The big 'problem' is now that the bill for het recovery isn't gonna be cheap. Ofcourse I wanna give het the best shot at a good recovery, but her medicine and surgery cost money. Sadly i'm just a poor backpacker and don't have heaps of money because I do basic jobs for minimum wage.
My question to you would be if you can miss a little bit of money to help Milo out in her recovery? Even just one dollar/euro/etc. would already be so helpful. Even a 100 dollar in total donations would help me out in a way I cannot describe. I would be so grateful with anyone that can help me out to get Milo better and enjoying her adventures again! Thanks in advance and if you wanna follow Milo's recovery you can follow her on instagram: Milothetravelcat.
