Upon mutal agreement we have decided to stop the donations.
Elenas is very grateful for the donations made sofar and says you are beautiful people but he is also a bit uncomfortable and feels the urge to refund you all back one day... I have assured him that this was meant as a gift and he should not feel any guilt. In the end we agreed that he will accept the donations made already and try to give his life a go.
Good luck to you Elanas and thank you all for your donations which I already handed over to him.
Let kindnesses rule 🤍
I would like to present you Elanas, a young man from Lithuania who has lived most of his life in the UK but, because of Brexit, was forced to leave.
When he stranded in the Netherlands he got robbed of everything he possessed.
Today is his birthday 🥳 and the idea is to make him a big gift by helping him on his feet again, would you like to help me?
I am raising money for him to pay a new ID and shelter and living costs for at least 3 months. This way he would have a billing address so he can start working because that’s his true desire, to get the opportunity to look after himself.
When he stands outside the supermarket hoping to raise some coins he never actually asks you something. He just stands there, smiling. When I asked him how he does that, in the freezing cold, considering his situation he said: It’s a hard time for everyone and my smile is the only thing I can offer. If they can’t spare something but 'merely' smile back, I am happy to give us a moment of joy and it makes me happy because I know I am not invisible…
I truly thank you on behalf of Elanas for your kind offer 🙏
