Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are reaching out to you with an urgent plea for help. Our dear friend Divya Gupta, a vibrant and loving 28-year-old, is courageously battling a severe health crisis. Diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor, Divya's best chance for survival lies in receiving specialized immunotherapy treatment in Germany, which her insurance does not cover. We are starting this foundation to raise the necessary funds to give Divya the fighting chance she deserves.
Divya’s Journey
Divya was born and raised in India. From a young age, she was known for her determination and kindness. She pursued her passion for business, earning a master’s degree in Marketing and Business Analytics in India.
In March 2023, Divya got married and moved with her husband to the Netherlands. Their life together in the Netherlands marked a new beginning filled with dreams and possibilities.
A Sudden and Unexpected Challenge
However, in March 2023, their happiness was interrupted when Divya began experiencing severe headaches. Multiple visits to the general practitioner yielded no relief, and her condition worsened. By August 2023, the pain was unbearable, leading to frequent vomiting. Their persistent efforts finally secured an MRI scan for Divya on August 23, 2023. The results were devastating: a 7 cm brain tumor, diagnosed as Grade II.
Divya underwent surgery in Tilburg on September 18, 2023. Post-surgery, she found hope when her follow-up MRI scan on November 29, 2023, showed no signs of the tumor. Celebrating this victory, Divya and Ankur spent two joyful months with their families in India.
The Fight Continues
Their joy was short-lived. A follow-up MRI on March 5, 2024, revealed the tumor had returned aggressively, growing to 3.5 cm. On March 18, 2024, another surgery removed 90% of the tumor, but the remaining 10% was too close to critical brain structures to be safely removed. With the tumor now classified as Stage IV, the prognosis was grim, giving Divya only 2-5 years to live.
Divya went through six weeks of radiotherapy, followed by 12 months/cycles of chemotherapy. Despite these treatments, the Dutch doctors have exhausted their options. Through her own research, Divya discovered an advanced immunotherapy treatment available in Germany, which could extend her life by 6-12 years, or even lead to a full recovery. They wanted to start the immunotherapy treatement asap but Divya got multiple complications with her health during the course of Chemotherapy. Now that, she is into 10th round of chemo, and will be finishing it in 3 months, they have initiated the process to get the personalized immunotherapy vaccine from CeGat, Tubingen, Germany.
How You Can Help
The cost of the initial trial for this life-saving treatment is €85,000 for around an year of vaccines (attaching the latest invoice from CeGat) & the cost of traveling every month for the treatment, a sum beyond the reach of Divya and her family. We believe that with the support of our community, we can raise these funds and give Divya the chance to pursue this critical treatment in July. Last year, with this fundraiser, We recevied around €40,000 from which we made an initial payment of 20k Euros to initiate the process and we would need to pay the remaining €60,000 Euros after 5 weeks when they start to manufacture the vaccine, and we are really looking forward for all your support once more.
Spread the Word
Even if you are unable to donate, you can still help by spreading the word. Share Divya's story with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people who know about her situation, the greater our chances of reaching our fundraising goal.
