Fracture research in rural Tanzania

Fracture research in rural Tanzania | Geld inzamelen

On the 1st of March we, Fleur Smit and Anna Keetelaar, are going to run the Kilimanjaro half marathon in Moshi, Tanzania.
By doing this, we hope to collect money for our research project at Haydom Lutheran Hospital, Tanzania.

Since September 2019, we have been working on the research project: "Lower extremity fractures: access to care and outcome of treatment in rural sub-Saharan Africa" led by Global Health doctor Anneloes Eleveld and Grayson Mtui, a local doctor.

This is a collaboration between Global Surgery Amsterdam and Haydom Lutheran Hospital. In Haydom Lutheran Hospital, many patients with fractures of the lower extremities are treated.
This study is unique in evaluating access to trauma care and outcome of treatment for patients who suffer a fracture in a rural area of Tanzania. Many of our patients are not able to pay for treatment or are bankrupted by paying their hospital stay. Therefore, they are unable to receive the proper treatment and follow-up for their injuries. Because of this, we are doing this fundraising to help them and Haydom Lutheran Hospital to provide them adequate treatment and follow-up.

The collected money will be handed over to the main researchers Anneloes Eleveld and Grayson Mtui, to achieve our goal. Any donation and sharing is very welcome, thanks in advance!
