As some of you might know, there are many stray dogs in Turkey. They are beautiful, warm-hearted and usually very friendly. Yet they will never have a home and many shelters are in a very poor condition 😢

Many people are trying to help them to the best of their ability. But with the upcoming winter, extremely high inflation, increased food prices (dog food is imported) and with no government support, they are in a very dire situation. 

Eric and I decided to start this action just before birsen's birthday. We have seen these gentle creatures walking on the streets; malnourished, lonely, handicapped, sick, cold, sometimes beaten or kicked. We couldn't bear the idea of them starving to death this winter. 

We have been searching good and reliable shelters for some time now. We got to know one shelter in Ankara. We are in touch with them already for months now (for some information about them: https://mobile.twitter.com/sokaktakalanlar

They are helping hundreds of stray and abandoned dogs (and some other animals) to their best. But there is no regular support going to them. They have to rely only on donations. Unfortunately, due to economic crisis in Turkey, not much donation is made to animal organisations.
